ROLE SUMMARY
The Director of North American Strategic Marketing plays a critical leadership role in shaping the voice, positioning, and commercial strategy of Optos in one of its most important markets. This individual will be responsible for defining and refining Optos’ unique selling propositions (USPs) by engaging directly with customers, sales teams, and key opinion leaders (KOLs). Through these insights, the Director will identify high-impact opportunities for growth, craft messaging that resonates with target audiences, and lead efforts to transform influential KOLs into advocates for Optos’ ultra-widefield imaging solutions.
Reporting to the Vice President of Global Marketing, this role requires a mix of strategic vision, market insight, and relationship-building expertise. Success will be measured by the Director’s ability to distill complex feedback into actionable messaging, create alignment across commercial teams, and accelerate market adoption of Optos technologies across North America.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•    Develop and refine strategic messaging that differentiates Optos’ products in the North American market, with a focus on clinical and commercial USPs.
•    Engage regularly with eye care professionals, KOLs, and clinical influencers to gather insights, validate messaging, and build long-term advocacy.
•    Partner with the North American sales team to align marketing strategies with commercial objectives and provide frontline support for key initiatives.
•    Identify emerging market sector trends and unmet needs through field engagement, competitor analysis, and industry monitoring.
•    Lead development of regional marketing campaigns and assets tailored to local market dynamics, regulatory needs, and sales goals.
•    Translate customer feedback and market intelligence into actionable strategies, product positioning, and content development.
•    Recruit, manage, and activate KOLs for advisory boards, speaker programs, case studies, and peer-to-peer education.
•    Collaborate with global marketing and product teams to ensure consistency of brand voice while adapting to regional nuances.
•    Own the development and execution of North American Messaging Plan for new products or software platforms in North America in collaboration with other markets and aligning with the Global Messaging Plan.
•    Track, measure, and report on the effectiveness of marketing programs using KPIs such as engagement, lead generation, and regional sales impact.
•    Work with Global Marketing Assets, Clinical and Product Teams to produce North American-specific impactful sales tools, clinical brochures, case studies, and digital assets.
•    Serve as a marketing liaison for regulatory and reimbursement stakeholders, supporting advocacy and market access strategies when needed.
•    Mentor and guide junior marketers or cross-functional contributors working on regional marketing projects.
•    Represent Optos at trade shows, customer events, and advisory boards to elevate the company’s presence and gather strategic input.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
•    Bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited college or university; concentration in Marketing, Business, Life Sciences, or a related field preferred.
•    10 years of professional experience in the eye care industry, with a strong preference for roles in ophthalmology or optometry-related devices or diagnostics.
•    Proven track record in strategic marketing, product positioning, and customer engagement within a clinical or capital equipment environment.
•    Experience working closely with sales teams and key opinion leaders to shape messaging, drive adoption, and support commercial execution.
•    Demonstrated ability to translate customer and market insights into actionable marketing strategies and campaigns.
•    Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills; able to influence and collaborate across functions and geographies.
•    Ability to travel within North America up to 40% of the time to engage with customers, attend conferences, and support regional initiatives.
