Your role is to be a true generalist who is comfortable working across the various system components. You are happy to turn your hand to a range of technologies such as WPF on Windows to Sockets on ARM Linux to Docker build agents for Bamboo and can provide a unifying overview of complex features for the rest of the team.

Some of the challenges you could expect within your first year are:

  • Optimise transfer time for high-resolution images from capture by embedded processor to local preview processing by Windows application to remote server-side full processing and storage.
  • Improve efficiency of existing Atlassian CI pipeline and extend automated test framework to ensure continuous test coverage across multiple combinations of software configuration and device type.
  • Develop new approaches to accelerate system workflow to improve the patient experience.
  • Modernise the creation and deployment of system images for devices in production.

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance new and existing software for medical devices.
  • Support administration of DevOps infrastructure.
  • Ensure build and test infrastructure meets the needs of product development.
  • Apply standard software development quality practices that meet relevant medical device standards.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders in other groups such as manufacturing and IT to facilitate effective delivery of our products.

  • Commercial experience of C# and/or C++
  • Scripting experience (Python, PowerShell etc)
  • Experience of CI pipeline configuration and maintenance – ideally Atlassian/Bamboo
  • Experience with basic system administration ideally including Linux, Windows, and Docker.
  • Knowledge with Agile practices and ideally experience of working in an agile team.

At Optos, we offer a highly competitive compensation and benefits package.

We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons regardless of their race, sex, disability, religion/belief, sexual orientation, age or protected veteran status.
